When we base our decisions on our beliefs, it can have a ripple effect. non-political example:

You read on twitter, facebook, Fox News, and The Villages Radio that scientists have proven that driving gas golf carts leads to more deaths from faulty driving than driving electric golf carts. Not only that, but there is a class action suit against Yamaha for the wrongful deaths of over 10,000 people nationwide, as a result of the mechanics and logistics of their golf carts.

This news spreads nationwide, until suddenly, everyone's trying to unload their gas golf carts cheap, ClubCar announces THEIR golf carts haven't had any of these problems, and Yamaha comes out with new - more expensive - electric golf carts.

The existing yamaha gas carts cease to be popular, their stock tanks, shareholders can't recuperate, protesters march on their elected officials to outlaw gas golf carts, Yamaha is vilified, and has to lay off 500 people and close down 400 sales centers.

But the truth of the matter, is that it was just some random guy on the internet who didn't like his Yamaha golf cart, complained about how it was inconvenient for his wife - who is shorter than he is - to reach for the pedal and was worried some day it'd result in an accident because the seat isn't adjustable.

The conspiracy nuts picked it up and ran with it, spinning it into an anti-Yamaha rant. Obviously Club Car was elated and used it to their advantage in increasing their own sales.

Your choice to rely on unverified facts that can be easily proven false, has an impact on everything. It's called the ripple effect and can start with false information, or it can start with you simply being in a bad mood, or stubbing your toe and walking around all day with a bit of a limp.
