Personally, I think that all roundabout incoming roads should merge into one lane before the roundabout. Before someone says that it would defeat the idea of getting a lot of traffic through quickly - I would say that if that is the objective (higher traffic) then 2 lanes and a conventional red light intersection need to be used. Roundabouts are a cheap way of moving traffic in a rural LOW-DENSITY environment.
.....It is NO LONGER WORKING in high-density VillageLand.
.......I never saw any double-lane roundabouts (only single-lane) in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
