Agree... but isn't that just part of democracy (?) and the USA. By that I mean, the "squares" here differ from what we know as a square in a traditional town, be it Leesburg or Orlando. To me at least, the "squares" here are a public area controlled by a private enterprise. In many ways like the "public" squares and outdoor eating and drinking areas of Disney, or like Publix or Beall's. The owners of the Villages have selected what they wish to broadcast, go into a Starbucks, and that corporation may have chosen different news or music for their establishment. I was on the square in downtown Ocala about a month ago, enjoying a lovely outdoor lunch. Ocala is a traditional municipality, yet, what did I hear ? Yes, loud speakers playing "someone's" (the mayor ? city council ?) music selections for all the public in the ares ! But I maintain that residents "should" be entitled to go to the community pools without being forced to listen to a radio program I would never listen to in my own home.
