It would be easy to say just don't listen to them but they do blast it all around the Squares.

Maybe they should just stick to music if you're going to have speakers up all over the place.

Same thing at the TV gyms, why is there huge TV'S with cable news on? It's a gym put sports or nature on stop inudating us with news. The TV'S are so big it's impossible to ignore.

As a kid the news came on at 6pm-7pm unless there was some emergency.

Even going out to eat all you hear is news conversations.

When did we as a society become so addicted to news?

I can't even watch golf without being blasted with repetive commercials for news organizations.

Give us a break with all this so called news.

Don't turn this into politics as it's not allowed, this is just about the sheer amount of news that is bestowed on us.
As a 20-year veteran of commercial broadcasting let me explain. There are many types of radio stations--Top 40, Country, Easy Listening, News/Talk, etc. Then there is "Full Service". I think VOGA tries to be as much of a full-service station as it can w/o having local news/sports departments. That means hooking up with a radio network--Fox, ABC, NBC, etc. That five minutes of news at the top of the hour might be the only news some people get all day. Plus it keeps you apprised of any new developments as opposed to a 30-60 minute summary at the end of the day. There are probably fifty stations in Orlando as well as stations in Ocala and every other town of any size in Central Florida. Twist that dial and find one you like.
