I know I can be a bit Pollyannaish at times, and got my hackles aroused by the POA's jihad against the hospital. Add to that my actual real-life ignorance of first-person hospital experiences --- prior to 1+ year ago, I had spent a total of 1 night in a hospital for "observation" since tonsils at 7 or 8.
However, I've seen the ER twice and had hospital stays 3 times of late. Got out Friday after a pneumonia diagnosis, a centesis, some tests and med treatments and more observation.

Was there for a week.
My observations: everyone was totally professional. The vast, vast majority were personable and charming and all cared. From the intake lady at ER to the discharge nurse a week later, I couldn't have asked for better. In a week, I went thru a goodly number of nurses and technicians. As Jan's luck of the draw would hold, with some of these men & women I developed an instant rapport. With others, the "relationship" stayed more formal. No problem. Not everyone warms to everyone and likely those I found a bit stiff were different with the guy in the next room.
Now I said all that BS to get to this --- I have found The Villages Regional Medical Center to be a great place with great people. I'd also salute the home care program and the oxygen/walker people for their aftercare -- all arranged by the great aftercare program at TVRMC. It ain't all roses -- the television remotes suck and the food is, well . . . hospital food.
