Emotions are not a thing of themself, they are part of your survival package both as an individual and as a species, it's the programing that animates the hardware. Ones body / hardware can breakdown, malfunction, programing can be corrupted. And just as in the animal world it's all about survival of the individual and the overarching survival of the species, ask any man or couple who's sperm they would prefer to use for their child..It's about survival, if a person is misprogrammed they are misprogrammed, biology and emotions serve the same ends, animals do have emotions/ instincts (programing) appropriate for their survival, emotions aren't there to make you feel "good "but are a general guide determined by many many years of evolution
