They were brown. Just like all Egyptians. You do know that there are multiple shades of brown? Or do you truly believe that if they're not dark brown, they must be white?
Hamites (another name for the background of Zipporah, Moses' wife) were also brown. They were not nearly as dark brown as people from Ethiopia at the time, but darker than most Egyptians. The word you referred to that the vulgarity filter asterisked out, comes from the word Cush, which was the son of Noah. People who are "of Cush" were Cush.. ites. They descended from the son of Noah, who was from an area within the country now known as Iraq. They were ALSO brown.
