The OP didn't say that the house is owned by a trust. I wouldn't create a trust just so a spouse can get a green ID card because it is very easy to get a blue card. If you have a trust, whether or not you can get a green card depends on the wording of the trust and who is the trustee. But, apparently, having a trust does not preclude you from getting a green resident card.
