Landlines are confusing. A true landline is an analog wire that comes directly to the house without the need for electrical house power or a cable service. I don't know if you can still get a true analog landline service.
The "landline" that is offered by Xfinity is a digital phone line that is delivered to the house using the Xfinity cable and is routed through a modem. I have the Xfinity landline service, and it costs $20 per month after the bundle discount. I like it because it is a reasonable backup for the cell phone.
