Nothing I said was hearsay. I live in the Villages and am quite capable of driving to a home I am interested in and listening for the noise coming from the turnpike. For some, it doesn't bother them, for me it does. As far as the taxes go, have a realtor figure what you will pay each year including the bond and assessments. For me, it was a "no deal." I pay far less in Sumter County. Do your research and decide what is best for you. Everyone is different.
