$30,000 is low???

Did the Daily Sun (DS) article say something different from the three articles on the news site that shall not be named? Those articles said nothing about returning to hit the man, they mentioned multiple blows and then walking away. I don't trust the accuracy of either so if it would be good to know if it was presented differently in the DS.

The three articles also mention that the victim was taken to the hospital after he began stumbling and slurring his words which implies that he was not initially stumbling or slurring words. To me, this means the attacker could not have known how much he had actually injured the individual.

The attack should not have happened, no question. The attacker should be prosecuted, no question. But, we should pay attention to the facts that are presented and be careful not to embellish them.

Confirmation bias is real; I can find any number of articles that say so.
