During the hearing, they closely scrutinized the color of my house (submitted photo) with the color of my proposed stain (I took a picture of a neighbor’s driveway that matched what I wanted to do - they said that was sufficient) - I also took a photo of a neighbor’s design, showing the border design I was going to use, as well as a little decorative design at each corner. My color palate was pretty neutral (light browns and tans). They seemed most concerned about any design I would put in the middle (I elected no design) - I think that is where some folks run into trouble, with designs that are deemed too loud or elaborate.
Most folks don’t seem to get ARC approval for driveway staining, thus the reason you may see designs that your neighbors had done, that get denied when you submit to the ARC.
