How big a pot is of course the question. Plants there are annuals and perenials. Simply stated annuals last for one year. As they have only one year they tend to bloom prolifically to produce seeds. Common and easy to grow are marigolds.
Perennials come back every year. In pots, I am growing daylillys. The variety el Dario blooms in yellow and blooms almost continuously most daylilies have only a short bloom cycle.
A pot. The plant cannot develop an extensive root system. Drainage can also be a problem. Be sure to drill or have drainage holes
