Rather than pay money to anyone outside of your monitor you get some free self-help fixits at your very own convenience. Imagine that. I do a great core workout from a fitness expert (ahem influencer). I cured my sometimes nagging rotator injury into a never nagging one thanks to another expert. Why I even added freon to my car thanks to one of these online mechanics. Went from warm air to ice cold... right before summer hit.

The unfortunate side effect is along with these very helpful people online we also get some narcissistic, useless twits that come with the package. I'm with you on this... who watches this garbage? And why are some of them straight out lying? Sad thing is the internet loves to promote them more than the helpful... just for clicks! So we get them pushed in our faces while others who actually contribute to society are sometimes ignored.

The name "influencer" sounds new and silly, I know, but some of these vloggers are actually very helpful. I'm sure the kids who watched this lil girl felt the same, maybe confidence-wise, who knows. If you don't like 'em, then don't "like" 'em.
I think you need to separate the how-to videos and blogs that help solve a problem with "social influencers" who just spout out crap. A you tube video of how to program your sprinkler system is a far cry from some 14-year-old twit shouting out the N-word.
