If our internet service decides to take a short vacation the phones are our backup: iPads, Apple Watch, etc. all connect to it. A bit slower than our regular xFinity internet but not much. I don't know if our TVs would run off the phone hotspot or not but I'm not much concerned about that anyway.
Excellent backup in an emergency.

Are you sure the $30 includes unlimited data? Every time I get one of the Xfinity ads about $30/month I go to their website and use their calculator to show me how much I will save. When I enter the details of my $40/line unlimited AT&T plan the calculator tells me I am paying less than I would with Xfinity.
I think the Xfinity $30/line comes with a limit on data. Unfortunate since I would like to try Xfinity cellular.
My plan does NOT include hotspot capability. If I ever leave this plan, that will likely be the reason.
