We are preparing to return to NH and family. We have an apartment attached to our children's home and we are ready. We have been here since 2008 and for the most part have had a wonderful time, but age and ill health has become a problem. The Village hospital almost managed to kill my husband, but not quite, they left him handicapped so if we stayed here we we would probably have to move to assisted living and that is not going to happen. $6,000 to $8,000 a month to have someone who does not even know you take care of you in your final years, no way. That money goes to my kids.
We have no regrets, love NH and we live in a beautiful area on the outskirts of a historic city. We have access to superb healthcare and only an hour from the major hospitals in Boston. Real restaurants, Market Basket, good shopping. Easy access to the coast. It is not a difficult decision. I don't think we ever intended to die in TV.
Oh, by the way, no snow shoveling, people do that for you if you pay them.
