What some continue not to recognize, especially those who use this debate to vilify the President, it's that his task is to develop plans and use his office, his persistence, and his inspiration to get Congress to approve those plans. Obama has the courage and resolve to take on one of the toughest issues in our history, regardless of whether it's to try to cement his place as a "Great President" or just to exemplify the kind of character he challenged us all to have last night.
The sound principles in his outline of how to fix health insurance haven't changed since his campaign, and he reemphasized the most critical points needed to make it right. He soft-pedaled the public option and didn't mention increasing taxes on the rich. Instead he advanced McCain's idea of increasing funding by taxing the highest premium insurance companies. He debunked the false and insidious rumors. He drew THE LINE on increasing the deficit and repeated that the bill should not pay for abortions or insure illegal aliens. He called for reform and protection of Medicare and took on a whole new army of self-interested lobbying enemies by calling for tort reform.

He did what an intelligent, well-meaning President should do for his country in need. He deserves support for that because he will take endless crap until this is done. For all of the super patriots who also are so supportive of our soldiers but stop at nothing to find any conceivable way to attack the President's revised health insurance outline , it's time you saw the remarkable parallel between our soldiers and our President.
