It's not a stupid question. A sand bottle is a plastic type two part bottle, about 16 to 18 inches tall, with a narrow opening at the top. It is filled with sand that is contained in bins at most of the tees on the golf course. When one hits their ball and takes a divot of grass and the grass piece isn't replaced because it isn't in one piece, the sand is applied to the damaged area. It helps the grass regrow in that area.
