We buy the cheapest white goods, and when out of warranty, if any go wrong, we chuck them out and replace.
Most last for years without problems though, but would not waste money on repairs, given today's labor and parts costs.
Other things going wrong around the house that I cannot fix myself, I call the son in law and get him to sort it out!
