The modem stays connected but the router goes off-line. Fortunately, I have the Empty Nest people and they unplug and plug in the router and then it works for a while - sometimes a month or two, sometimes a few weeks.

I don't have the option of Quantum Fiber where we are. It's either Spectrum or Xfinity.

Up north, I have a Netgear router that I set to reboot automatically once a week just to keep it fresh. It's a setting in the firmware.

One of my neighbors bought their own router. I didn't get a chance to ask why - maybe for reliability or maybe because they have a lot more devices on their network.

Anyway, I was just wondering if someone else had any thoughts on this and maybe some info on how to avoid the router disconnects.
Do yourself a favor and buy a good router. We had Spectrum up north and always had strange issues like that until buying an Asus router (the one with 4 antennae). You need to keep the Spectrum unit because you still need the modem functionality. But you disable the wi-fi on the Spectrum unit and plug in your new router to one of the ports. We had much better range and reliability with the Asus.
