The modem stays connected but the router goes off-line. Fortunately, I have the Empty Nest people and they unplug and plug in the router and then it works for a while - sometimes a month or two, sometimes a few weeks.

I don't have the option of Quantum Fiber where we are. It's either Spectrum or Xfinity.

Up north, I have a Netgear router that I set to reboot automatically once a week just to keep it fresh. It's a setting in the firmware.

One of my neighbors bought their own router. I didn't get a chance to ask why - maybe for reliability or maybe because they have a lot more devices on their network.

Anyway, I was just wondering if someone else had any thoughts on this and maybe some info on how to avoid the router disconnects.
We're still under construction in TV, but I was trying to decide on fiber, Spectrum or Xfinity. I have Spectrum up north, and over the past 8 years I've never had a problem with disconnects unless it was a full Spectrum outage (power loss, etc.). I probably power cycle the modem a couple times a year.
