What you allow in your yard is your business. Just because another dog owner is more tolerant, does not mean that someone else MUST be of same mind when it comes to health and sanitation. Some of us mow our own lawns and do not wish to step on a neighbor's dog's residue and then track into our home.
Some dog owners will never understand, just like some folks that do not like or tolerate cats will never understand those that do. Anyone that assumes that it is ok for them to allow their dogs to relieve themselves on someone else's property, are irresponsible and selfish.
I wonder what a dog owner would think if I was to use my smart phone remote control of my sprinkler system to suddenly come on when they are in my yard. Would that be unreasonable? After all, it IS my property.
I love animals, but my property is my castle and I do not tolerate inconsiderate neighbors that believe they can drive on my lawn or walk their dogs on it. I use chemicals on my lawn and landscaping and I do not wish to harm animals. It is not my responsibility to "protect" or notify my dog owner neighbors when I treat my lawn. Believe me, I have had a neighbor request that I tell them when I treat my lawn so that they would not allow their dog to use my yard. I hope that my lack of response along with my incredulous look was sufficient.
Like I said before, I love animals but I do not believe that it is asking too much for other folks to respect a neighbor's property. If signs were allowed here, I would post a warning.

I see signs in about ever village I enter.
apples to oranges. Cats don’t bark, dogs don’t kill hundreds of song birds in their life time, dogs don’t get let out to prowl and go where the want, don’t see owner of cats following them around picking up after them. To people that own house cats the never prowl you are the responsible cats owners just like responsible dog owners.
