The last time we had a prime rib roast, which I found at Publix Magnolia Plaza only two months ago, I smoked it till medium rare and it came out great. Low (225) and slow (35-40min/lb) in my opinion is the way to go. Internal temperature for medium rare about 135.
PS…. I’m the “inspector” in this area so when you get it all done I’ll be over for dinner….lol
