This is true, with the following additions:
1. The buyer and seller must both be residents of Florida. Any firearm sale to a non-Florida resident must go through an FFL dealer.
2. For a handgun sale, the buyer must be at least 21 years old. For a long gun, the buyer must be at least 18 years old.
Always keep a copy of the bill of sale, showing complete information on both buyer and seller, including Florida driver's license number; the date of sale; and a description of the firearm, including serial number. The BOS will be your proof of transfer should the firearm ever turn up at a crime scene after you sold it.
