C'mon man, you know what they mean. Annual inspection, coil cleaning, condensate drain cleaning, etc. Not to mention Carrier requires proof of annual maintenance while the unit is under the warranty period.
Another reason an annual inspection (by a pro) is a good idea, is that I've seen more than one condensate overflow switch fail on units here in The Villages. The resulting backup of water due to homeowners failing to clean the condensate drain can cause thousands of dollars in damage, if not caught in time.
And no, I'm not an HVAC person, and I feel the $129 a year is money well spent.
