I was really impressed with how the authorities in Maine dealt with the victims' needs.
We have come a very long way since I first encountered the police dealing with the 2-24-1976 murder of my then Earl Wooster HS remedial English teacher's daughter. The police representative came and talked to us a few weeks after that at Wooster HS and complained about how the bad guys got the press and mentioned the murder of an Olympian skier by a then Earl Wooster HS then student around 1963. This made international news. This was hard as some of us remained suspects for a while up to the point that they "solved" the case after a woman made a confession in a Louisiana jail or mental ward in 1979. It ended up that they got the wrong person. It was finally corrected in 2014.
