I got something similar to what GG describes last Thursday. I use the Mozilla Firefox too.

Took my puter to our company computer fixer and he had to clean it out. Cost me $240. Told me to forget using Norton or McAfee and had me install "Eset" security system.

That was the first time I got a virus that required a complete wipe of the HD and I've had PC's since the late 80's.
