Never understood why reductio ad absurdum is sometimes categorized as a logical fallacy, so this gave me the opportunity to once again learn via googlage:
"If used in its traditional sense of the term, reductio ad absurdum can be a valid argument. However, it is also a form of logical fallacy when used incorrectly to dismiss an entire argument".
