Most people younger than 40 did NOT wear masks and that was OK also because Covid was only minimally affecting that younger group. High school is full of lots of peer pressure and wildly fluctuating endorphins. Those factors would seem to overpower a trivial thing like wearing a mask especially when they were required for a period in schools. The main objective of a school is to provide a safe place to learn. AT that time masks were needed for safety.

Masks never did anything to lower transmission. He never was able to go to school in person senior year. He was isolated and had to cover his face whenever he was out. That messes with a young adults head. My kid, being in high school, got over it. But many young kids were totally screwed. They had daycare kids wearing masks. The people that implemented and enforced that need to be put in jail for abuse as far as I'm concerned.
