In my career, I have worked in multiple positions where I frequently would have someone ask "how to do X", but then when you ask them why they "want to do X", you discover that they really don't need to do X, and should be doing Y instead.
Do you have the mindset that if someone asked where they could rent a pressure washer to wash their bedroom carpets, would it be better to just blindly answer, or maybe present a follow-up question?
