Default Golf Cart Safety

The fact that The Villages is so very golf cart freindly makes the lifestyle here most enjoyable. However, it gives me great concern how golf cart owners are so unconcerned about the lighting of their carts that they drive within inches of cars they share the road with. I'll speak for myself but I believe older folks like myself loose some of thier night vision abilities. Coupled with that fact, I see constantly, poor tailights, tailights covered with enclosures and towels hanging along side thier golf cart bag, missing lights, and no reflectors on the rear to increase the visiblity.
How many carts have side reflectors to increase the visibility of a cart dark in color and with dark side curtains? The advent of the new LED lights have, to me, been a wonderfull application on golf carts. They are bright and intense and easily installed.
I recently saw a cart with LED tailights mounted in the normal manner of the rear fender and also on the rear edges of the top cover along with a brake light in the center of the cover. When this cart made a turn and applied his brake lights, it definately got my attention.
Give this situation some thought, it might save a life or save you the grief of knowing you couldn't avoid an accident because you were unable to see in time.
In My Humble Opinion
Handie
