I believe what is happening is the zip code is being changed when an area becomes part of the Villages.

Prior to Villages construction, areas in Sumter County are assigned to the zip code of the nearest post office. Much of the land the Villages is built on had a Wildwood zip code. The land where newer sections are being built may also have Okahumpka zip codes.

Once the area is developed and perhaps once it is brought under a CDD, the address is changed from Lady Lake or Wildwood or Okahumpka to the Villages and the zip code is changed to one of the three Villages zip codes (32163 for many). Google maps takes a while to catch up. For example, 6380 Merhottein Loop has a Wildwood 34785 zip code in Google Maps while it has an address of the Villages 32163 in the Sumter County tax records.

The only way I know of to determine what will happen in Dabney is to give it some time. l assume the Sumter County Tax Collector website will have the correct information but I don't see any Dabney homes in there yet. They will get there eventually. Many things are possible including a new zip code for the Villages so we'll just have to wait and see.

I like the advice of post #6: Give the moving company the address they will be able to find which is the google maps address. Your mail will come through the USPS so use whatever zip code the USPS knows for your address even if it is different from the google maps info.

Confirmation bias is real; I can find any number of articles that say so.
