Look at the map of Dabney and Denham now. Houses are going under agreement quickly for January. Northerners don’t sell in winter. I’m betting spring market will see a big increase. One house in my neighborhood in Denham is under agreement for 200K more than it sold for a year ago. Preserve sites here are not a bad investment. They are all sold already.
Apart from that I bought for the lifestyle and retirement. It’s not an investment property for me, so any advice based on future value has little affect on my decision.

Brick and Mortar ARE NOT amenities. They are businesses. They supply jobs and bring in tax revenue. Without them, Florida may have to change its tax system. Perhaps, collect a state tax, estate tax, or capital gains tax. Or, a combination. How many jobs will be lost without stores? Don't forget to include those who transport the goods and warehouse workers What will our unemployment rate be? Finally, don't forget capitalism works because of competition. When you rely solely on companies like Amazon you are giving them the power of monopoly. They can charge whatever they wish because they have no competition.
A generation is defined as a time period of 15-20 years. Unless you are 50 or younger, YOU ARE IN OUR SAME AGE BRACKET and part of this new generation of retirees.
You did not buy for investment but retirement doesn't always go as planned for many. Health issues or suddenly widowed force them to leave Florida. This happens quite frequently.
ALL of us have our fingers crossed hoping home prices do not go down. The developer has shown his cards. He is willing to slash prices to keep his wheels moving. Will he HAVE to keep doing it? Only time will tell.
