I basically agree. And as far as "mountains of trash" go - Around the 1950s when the population of the US was around 200 million people - there were more remote areas to dump trash and fewer people PRODUCING trash. People would throw stuff like banana peels out of the window of their car and it was NOT the disaster that it is today. Today cities are bigger and denser to accommodate the LARGER population. The wall-to-wall concrete in the city makes the summer HEAT more intense.
...........Today very few people spend a lot of time communicating with nature by tent camping in a remote area or hiking mountainous areas. For many people the closest time they spend with nature is when they play 18 holes of golf. And more power to them!
