Default I differ with your opinion on lithium batteries.

I converted my GEM car over to lithium batteries several years ago and have been very happy with the setup. I tripled the miles I was getting per charge and no stinking fumes to smell. If there is a problem with leaving it plugged in it is in how the charge system is setup and not the batteries. When they are finished charging the charger should shut off completely.
