I suppose it’s asking too much of the gate attendants to periodically turn their head around and check to see how long the golf cart backup is behind them?

Totally agree that this is a very dangerous situation. There has to be a way that the gate attendant can be notified of the carts waiting to cross the traffic behind the gate & pause the car flow for a few seconds.
