Most channels have little to offer and as stated earlier, leave the TV off and live life until you can't. Then you can sit all day long and watch TV.

Well said. Newton N. Minow said this in 1961, and not only has it not improved, it has gotten worse:
" I invite each of you to sit down in front of your own television set when your station goes on the air and stay there, for a day, without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a
vast wasteland."
TV has it's place. It can be a distraction, and a way to pass your time when you aren't feeling well or it is too hot/cold to be outside. But a way of life? Hardly.
