One would think that a gate area where the arm is unexpectedly missing, that crashes would happen at a huge rate. Golf carts would be expecting the car to stop, and cart would dart out into the traffic lane directly in front of the vehicles.
I recall plenty of publicity about carts crashing all over the place EXCEPT at any crossing with a missing gate arm. We hear about every cart crash, but that number pales in comparison to how many cars crash. There's nothing sensational about a car crash, so those do not get the hype in the news media.
Yet the doom and gloom posts continue, even though crashes are just not happening.

I think this is an excellent argument for removing ALL traffic lights and stop signs in The Villages.
