2008 Sumter County Presidential Vote
From and earlier post by yours truly:
In the 2008 Sumter County presidential election where The Villages makes up a major portion of the electorate, it is interesting to note the result was overwhelmingly (63.01%) for McCain. Obama received only 36.04% of the vote. 82% of eligible voters went to the polls.
30,866 Sumter residents voted for McCain
17,655 voted for Obama
Perhaps you would be less embarrassed if you steered your friends to Miami, Detroit or some other urban area where the like minded can get "free" money and more public handouts through wealth redistribution while giving group hugs in support of each other and ACORN. Perhaps, in order to bridle your exposure to embarrassment, you should have researched the political trending of Villages voters before you settled in a largely conservative community....especially if it makes you so judgemental and uncomfortable regarding your neighbors. We did.
Palin, Beck, Huckabee appearing within days of each other to the pleasure of thousands of Villagers....priceless.
In your opinion it may be a "sad, sad day in Mudville" but once again....it's a great day in the Villages for so many.
