This is so typical of tech support. You do NOT need an app, nor does WPA have anything to do with it. The computer and the printer do need to be on the same WiFi network. You likely don't need a new printer either. I would be happy to try and help you, but I won't be back in TV until December and I doubt you want to wait that long.
If you can position the computer near the printer, you can just skip the Wifi and hardwire the connection with a USB cable.
