Almost every lithium battery you purchase, such as for your drill, lawn mower, etc. has electronics built in. Open one up and you will see at the very least a circuit board with electronics on it.
You get maybe five years with a lead acid battery, IF-IF you do great maintenance on it. Some lithium batteries will last ten years or so.
