Growing up in the wilds of Northern Minnesota, community life centered around the church. Our church had an outhouse, one side male, the other female. Well-meaning parishoners would leave outdated Sears catalogues to be used as toilet paper. You learned right quick to turn to those yellow index pages as they were much easier on the anatomy than those glossy regular pages.
