The White House ethics counsel, with little fanfare, has issued a new policy this Fall. and according to the Washington Post, it "may turn out to be the most far reaching lobbying rule change so far from President Obama, who has sought to restrict the ability of lobbyists to to get jobs in his administration and to negotiate over stimulus contracts. Hundreds, if not thousands, of lobbyists are likely to be ejected from federal advisory panels as part of a little noticed initiative... to curb their influence in Washington. Under the policy... none of the more than 13,000 lobbyists in Washington could hold a seat on the committees which advise agencies on trade rules, troop levels, environmental regulations and thousands of other government policies."

(the only downside I can see is maybe a slight increase in unemployment stats.)
