Actually, I read that the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption was about the same size as the Tonga eruption. Tonga was under water and Pinatubo was on land . Pinatubo COOLED the Earth for 2 years by .9 degree F. Which is no big deal. Tonga produced water vapor. Pinatubo produced black ash. Tonga warmed the Earth, but I did not read anything about how much.
.......One could assume that since both eruptions were about the same size that they would have about equal effect on the earth temperatures.
Therefore, the effect of Tonga would be equally SMALL.
