YES! "it bugs" me. Not only is it ILLEGAL, it is STUPID and SUICIDAL!
Florida law considers bikes as legal vehicles, and as such they need to follow traffic laws. That INCLUDES driving on the correct side of the street. Anything else is INVITING head-on collisions. Who thinks that's a good idea?
We too ride incumbent trikes. Yet we do it LEGALLY and safely. Working WITH traffic, with mirrors, and with flashing lights works very well for us.
This stupidity changed the subject. A man was killed because he didn't see what was bearing down on him. I had a boyhood friend killed the same way, by a car that hit him from behind.
Pedestrians: PAY ATTENTION. Walk facing traffic. See who is going to run you down. The difference between pedestrians and trikes facing traffic is that pedestrians can easily step aside.
