I have an automatic payment every month and for the last couple years I have been pleased with their promise. Today, I received a notice from them that they were increasing the charge to $40 a month and that if I didn't want to pay it I have the option of severing service with them before the payment is due. Granted, I have not contacted them yet, since it is early and they are not open. I originally thought this was a scam, but I logged onto my account at their website and sure enough, it's true.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone else been notified of a price increase? Personally, I am suspect of a company that offers a lifetime price commitment, but I gave it a try. Even at the higher price increase (33%) it's not a bad deal. BUT, they continue to offer "price for life" in their advertising. I have been recommending Quantum Fiber Internet to anyone asking about internet access in the Villages, but now I am not sure they can be trusted to honor their promise.
I plan to give them a call today to question them about their broken promise. If anyone else is interested, I'll let you know the results of our conversation. I do understand how prices go up in today's inflation, but a written explanation as to why the increase would have been conducive to a better understanding. I am still glad that I cut my ties to Xfiinity a long time ago.
On a side note, question: has anyone started using the cell 5G internet here in the Villages? If so, how do you like it? What kind of speed do you get and is it a stable speed?
I have noticed on Quantum’s Facebook ads they have stopped advertising the “price for life” at a fixed dollar amount. It says something to the effect of keep your price as long as you keep your plan.
