"Apparently"? So, you don't own one or have personal experience? I assume you are getting your info from Facebook, or some online site. If I go to the Yamaha or Club Car sites on FB, I see nothing but horror stories for those carts as well. Like any online site, folks that have an issue are the vast majority that post - those that don't are out enjoying their cart.
I'm an engineer. Evolutions are built just as well as my old Yamaha Drive 2. The frame has a lifetime warranty and is far stronger than the frame on my Yamaha. The roof is made from much heavier material. Like any cart, there will be a small percentage of issues with a new cart. It's all in the dealer when buying Evolution. If you go with t a good dealer, you won't have an issue.
Talk to others here in The Villages that actually own an Evolution D5 and see what their opinion is, and who they bought from before making such a broad statement.
