The odds of having an insured loss other than a hurricane are pretty slim. Most have never made an HO claim in their lives.

In order to save plenty of money, take a 2% deductible on the entire policy versus the $500 deductible most end up with.

The primary purpose of HO insurance is to protect against catastrophic losses, not small theft claims. The 2% deductible is the way to go.

If you have valuable jewelry, musical equipment etc, get a a specific floater policy to cover those items.
