Yoda, to be honest, you sound just like my ex-wife. Didn't matter what I said, she just KNEW what I was thinking.
I have an old friend from high-school who is far more liberal that I ever COULD be. I respect him, though, because he has at least thought out his positions. He's not just some knee-jerk "kumbaya" liberal. He and I simply disagree on the level that government shouild be involved in everyday life.
But to say that is a wish to "destroy capitalism" is simply ridiculous. Without capitalism, there aren't going to be the taxes to fund the programs that, let's be honest, buy the votes.
If you said they wanted to over-regulate capitalism, I might agree with you there. But the apocalyptic hyperbole in your last message makes it difficult.
I mean - come on - people who couldn't even VOTE in 1990 managed to overthrow and dismantle THE ENTIRE SOVIET UNION withouth firing a shot (except in Romania). You don't think that, should we ever reach a breaking point, we couldn't do the same? (And by 'we', I mean the American public after some kind of "Popeye' event - as in "that's all I can stands, I can't stands no more!")
