Hope you find a good ortho surgeon. I tore my rotator and labrum in a motocross wreck about 10 years ago, I was 57. I had a great Ortho here in Indiana.
His words after surgery were " I fixed your shoulder, but your recovery is 100% dependent on physical therapy and how hard you work at it".
I did everything they said and all the exercises they gave me for home by the book. It wasn't fun and sleeping was tough for the first couple weeks.
But 3 months to the day of my surgery I was released to resume normal activities. I was back in the gym and riding my bike again. I still have 100% movement and no pain.
Hopefully yours isn't to bad and they can fix it arthroscopically, which is way less invasive. Unfortunitely, I wasn't that lucky.
Good luck. Work hard at your pt and you'll be fine.
